Resourceful Adolescent Program (RAP)

The Resourceful Adolescent Programs (RAP) were developed to help prevent depression in adolescents.

The programs were created in response to evidence that demonstrated increasing resilience in young people can help prevent the development of depression.

There are currently 4 RAP programs that provide support to adolescents, parents/carers and teachers:

  • Rap-A
Developed to meet the need for a universal depression prevention program for adolescents which could be readily implemented in a school setting. The aim of the program is to assist participants to develop strategies to maintain or recover positive self-esteem in the face of stress.
  • Rap-P
Developed to help parents promote the optimal family environment for healthy adolescent development. The aim of the program is to help parents boost their own self esteem and the self-esteem of their adolescents.
  • Rap-T
Developed to assist teachers in fostering school connectedness. The program provides teachers with resources and strategies to improve school connectedness in everyday teaching and in the pastoral care or health curriculum.
  • Indigenous Rap
This program is an adaptation of the RAP-P program. The program was developed to be more relevant and useful for Indigenous communities.
