Emergency Management in Schools

Preparing for school-site related emergencies and critical incidents is crucial to minimise any trauma and distress to students and staff and damage to property.

The school principal/site manager is responsible for implementing an effective emergency management plan that will:

  • reduce the likelihood of emergencies and critical incidents
  • minimise the impact on students, staff and site activities
  • facilitate the return of the site to normal operations as soon as possible in an event of an emergency/critical incident
The Emergency Management policy provides direction for schools to develop their own Emergency Management plan for the prevention of, preparedness for, response to and recovery from emergencies and critical incidents.
