Attendance Policy

The school principal has overall responsibility for student attendance. The Department of Education and Training’s Attendance policy states that the principal is responsible for:

  • the accurate recording and rigorous monitoring of the attendance of all students
  • identifying students with attendance issues
  • implementing appropriate strategies to restore regular attendance

Schools are responsible for developing and implementing an attendance monitoring and action system for systematic, consistent and effective identification and action for all students with attendance issues.

All school staff are responsible for working towards maintaining regular student attendance.

The Attendance policy outlines the procedures schools must adopt for managing student attendance.
